Recently I was speaking to a group of high-level high-performing leaders (CEOs, VPs, Sr Execs). During my consulting conversation with them, I shared with them 3 common misconceptions people have about high-level leaders and everyone was nodding.
What are these 3 things?
Misconception #1: Being a great leader is all about perfect.
Nope! We leaders have flaws and make (constant) mistakes.
Misconception #2: Being a great leader is about your “position.”
Nope nope! Positional leadership doesn’t last long. You need personal leadership.
Misconception #3: Great speakers are born as great speakers.
This is my favorite. Look everyone’s born...as a baby! None is born as a great speaker or leader. Great speakers & leaders are MADE great, they’re not born great.
